Stupid car
The mechanic called. None of the second hand radiators worked. I have to choose between
a) Getting mechanic to buy and try out yet another €25 second hand radiator, probably increasing his labour costs in the process,
b) Buying a new €120 radiator.
So he keeps the car for a third night. This sucks.
Some good news: The reverse osmosis people will be installing the kitchen tap this Friday instead of next week. Yaaaay we can wash dishes.
Update: Still no water. My last shower was yesterday morning. Plumber should be arriving within the minute.

Plumbing not ok
Today our water dried up. No shower, no sink. Our plumber thinks we have an air bubble in a pipe. An air embolism in our house, fancy that. He's going to come visit at 19.00 tomorrow. He did give us some instructions to try out over the phone. Like turning on the one tap we have that gets its supply straight from mains and blocking it with a finger (the idea was to send a backflow of water up to the tank on the roof). But we all know what really happens when you block a tap with your finger. You spray the room and yourself and anyone who happens to be standing next to you. It could have been fun if my mother and I weren't so concerned about the washing machine finishing its load and our shower tomorrow morning. I still don't know what I'm going to do. Douse myself in perfume. Powder my hair with talcum - they say it is as good at fixing oily hair as shampoo. But I've tried it before and it turns my hair grey. Grey hair doesn't quite fit my overall look.
My mechanic bought me a second hand radiator from a scrap yard for €25, the price I was told I should get it for. But when he fitted it he said it leaked water. So I have to wait one more day (hopefully just one more day) to get my car back. He's a decent chap my mechanic. But he slurps up my very limited funds very unkindly.
I bought this car, my first car, last week for €550. The first service cost €217. Six months' insurance cost €170. I spent €70 on petrol in my first week. I'm getting ready to file for bankruptcy. I'm putting my laptop up for sale and I'll never update a blog ever again. Yeah... I'm going to have to stick to buses unless it's absolutely impractical to do so.
Tomorrow I'll be in my third day on a dermatology attachment. We have theatre scheduled. I'm getting ready to see some skin cancer excisions. I can't quite get my mind around these skin cancers. Considering I never really really learned the normal histology of the skin, words like basal cell layer, keratinocytes and follicular epithelium are sending me to the moon. I'm getting lost in unproductive, sometimes saucy daydreams. Yeah. But I must return to chaste Mother Earth. I'm really worried about this year. It takes me a long time to get around a subject, but this year there's no time and too many subjects.
